Goodbye, CrandleCakes!


Remember Bye Bye Birdie? I’m singing that song in my head right now.

“We love you CrandleCakes, oh yes we do-o, we love you Crandlecakes, and we’ll be tru-ue.”

It’s true, CrandleCakes is coming to a close. I’ll leave the recipes up for a while at least, but I will now be posting at my brand new blog, Week of Plenty. (Squee!!!)

CrandleCakes started as a place for me to talk about food, even though I had decided to leave the professional cooking world. But as I blogged and cooked and ate and changed, I realized that I have a whole new focus. I used to just love food. Now I know that I especially love plant-based (I mean “vegan,” basically, but less strict) recipes using mostly whole foods, and I want a place to start fresh and be totally passionate. Plus, I’ll admit it, I want to turn my blog into a business, and to do that, I need to really focus on just one specialty.

What can I say? Kale will never go out of style in my books, and plant-based eating doesn’t hamper my cookie intake. #winning

On Week of Plenty I’ve already started sharing plant-based, whole food recipes and talking about my journey to get to Pantry Level Zero. If that means nothing to you, go check out Week of Plenty! It all started when I got home from the grocery store several weeks ago and realized 3 things:

  1. I don’t want to make cake anymore.
  2. I am committed to cooking plant-based foods now.
  3. All of the excess in my kitchen (and life) was majorly bumming me out.

I had everything in my kitchen. I used CrandleCakes as an excuse to let things get really out of hand. Don’t believe me? Guess how many bags of flour I found in there? I told the story on Week of Plenty.

I’m trying to use up everything in my pantry BEFORE buying anything new, so I can simplify the way I cook and eat. And the other part of the goal is to create plant-based, healthy recipes that are simple to make and easy to incorporate into your life.

In the coming months, I want to start selling weekly meal plans for plant-based eating: 10 recipes, 10 ingredients or less, 1 week of simple, healthy meals.
